Miss Smyda and Mrs. Simpson's room did a "paper chain challenge" to review measurement and cooperation (the guidance office's monthly character trait). 5th graders worked in groups to build a chain using 1 piece of paper, scissors, and glue. Our shortest chain was 7 feet and our longest was 19 feet long. (They started with the same size paper) Here's a picture of our latest book donation. Thank you to students' families who donated a library book to Harrison Park for birthdays or Christmas. If you're interested on donating a book on your child's behalf, please contact Mrs. Aquino at [email protected] Your child will get to choose a book from the library's book cart, have a sticker in the book with his/her name in it, and be the first to read it!
We have a Kindness Elf in our room who tells us to do an Act of Kindness each day. This week, we sorted all of the canned food from Junk Box Wars and then another day we went to read to the Kindergarteners. The kids really love it!
Throwback Thursday is a trend among social media sites wherein users post older photographs with the hashtag #ThrowbackThursday.
The first Thursday of every month we will have a teacher post a picture from when they were in elementary school. Your job is to guess who the teacher is via the comments (they are private so it won't be posted on the site) write the student's name, grade and guess. We will draw names for the winner. The winner's picture will be posted on the blog with the teacher at the end of the month. |
